A Note from Pastor Rob
3 John 4:4 NIV
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
Someone recently asked, “I see Pastor Rob has been here the past few Sunday, but he’s not preaching…I’m curious as to why?” It’s a great question, and one I’d love to answer here just in case anyone else is wondering.
When God called my wife Michele and me to create a place and a people called Restoration, I knew it wasn’t going to be a perfect place, but it was going to be an authentic and accepting place. A place where people can find Jesus, find restoration in their lives and discover how God has created, gifted and called them with a purpose to serve, lead and make a difference for Christ’s kingdom.
Restoration has been “charmingly unpolished.” What that means to me is we are authentic and we give people chances to make an impact before they are perfect or polished. We still strive to get better every day; we try not to take ourselves too seriously, but since I was given opportunities before I thought I was ready, and because Jesus gave his students chances before they were ready, I want Restoration to be a place where we give people opportunities before they are ready.
I love to teach, I have the spiritual gift of teaching and I’ve been told I’m a pretty good teacher, but I share the teaching platform, especially during one of our topical summer series, with people on our teaching team (and sometimes some guest pastors) for several reasons:
- It creates opportunities to invest in our teaching team with a text or topic of their choice. We teach and read through a sequence of topics, themes and books during most of the school year, so I am the one (with the Holy Spirit) who is choosing the text or topics for our teaching team. A series like this allows them to ask the Holy Spirit what he wants to say through him or her.
- It allows me to work on other parts of the ministry that often take a back seat when I am studying and speaking weekly.
- It creates space for me to take a deep breath— to pause, pray and plan with God about where he’s leading us.
I believe in the Holy Spirit working through all people, in healthy spiritual rhythms, in rest and in receiving as a learner, not always as the teacher. So that is why you have seen me in the front row listening to other people preach.
God’s desire is for you to accept his invitation to be his child and walk in the truth of who He is, who you are and in who he’s created you to be and how he wants to work in and through you to bless the world.
Please reach out to our staff, leadership or me to discover how you could serve, lead and make a difference for God’s glory. We have a variety of ways to be involved and make an impact!
With hope,
Pastor Rob
Outdoor Worship + Baptism Service
August 27 at 10am | Crystal Lake Park, Burnsville, MN
Baptism is a very important spiritual milestone for a person who has come to know and love Jesus Christ. If you have felt God’s call to take this step our outdoor worship and baptism service is a great time to do that. This gives us the opportunity to celebrate with you as a church family and rejoice in this important next step.
Do you have questions about being Baptized? Pastor Rob would love to have a conversation with you! If you have hesitations about being baptized in a lake? We have options! Contact Pastor Rob to start the conversation.

This month we will be reading As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow by Zoulfa Katouh. We are switching things up this time and meeting on a Tuesday night. Please invite a new friend! This women’s group focuses on discussing literature and stretching our typical reading habits. Often it’s easy to read the same types of books, so we decided to try something different this month. Do you have a good idea for a book? Please bring anything you’d like to propose we read!
Bring a friend! Bring a snack! Bring a book! Let’s read!!
Any questions, please text Ellie Holmquist at 320-766-3978
